Synopsis
This film revolves around the obstacles to love between lovers due to the family’s belief in rank and lineage, which cannot unite those of high and low rank, thus triggering bloody conflicts, psychological stress, family feuds, even hypocrisy and murder. It tells the story of Ghazali ( P. Ramlee ), a musician who is dating Tengku Zaleha ( Saadiah ). Tengku Zaleha lives in Anggrek Villa with her family who are from a noble background, including Tengku Karim ( Ahmad Nisfu ), Yang Chik (Rahimah Alias) and Tengku Hassan ( Kuswadinata ). Their relationship is strongly opposed by Tengku Zaleha’s family. A few days later, Ghazali is entrusted with teaching Tengku Zaleha to play the piano at Anggrek Villa. Until one night, Ghazali is severely beaten by Tengku Hassan and his henchmen. Meanwhile, Tengku Zaleha is injected with sedatives. When her body was carried out of the house, Sudin ( S. Shamsuddin ) and his friends who witnessed it thought that Tengku Zaleha had died. After the incident, Ghazali became insane and still claimed that Tengku Zaleha was still alive.
A few months later, Tengku Zaleha re-inhabited Anggrek Villa with her husband, Tengku Mukri ( S. Kadarisman ). Tengku Mukri had his own trick to steal the wealth inherited by Tengku Zaleha. To facilitate her meeting with Ghazali, Tengku Zaleha chose Anggrek Villa in Johor Bahru for her honeymoon. Also with them was Tengku Aziz ( Yusof Latiff – Tengku Mukri’s cousin). With that meeting, the love between Ghazali and Tengku Zaleha that had been stunted blossomed again. At that time, Tengku Zaleha told the true story of the incident of her disappearance that night. That night, Tengku Karim’s family immediately moved to Singapore. While there, a tragedy occurred where Tengku Hassan killed Yang Chik (Tengku Zaleha’s mother) and was arrested by the police while Tengku Karim, who could not accept the death of his wife, was admitted to a mental hospital (crazy). After the incident, Tengku Zaleha married Tengku Mukri.
However, when Tengku Mukri found out from Tengku Aziz that Tengku Zaleha and Ghazali were in love and Tengku Aziz asked Tengku Mukri to divorce Tengku Zaleha so that Tengku Zaleha could marry Ghazali. Tengku Aziz’s proposal really angered Tengku Mukri and he made a plan to kill Tengku Aziz by running him over with his car and then went to meet Ghazali to make a plan to kill Ghazali. A fierce fight took place between Ghazali and Tengku Mukri that almost claimed Ghazali’s life, but Tengku Aziz, who was thought to have been killed due to Tengku Mukri’s trick, suddenly appeared and shot Tengku Mukri, killing him. With that, the love between Ghazali and Tengku Zaleha was rekindled.
