Do Re Mi originated from P. Ramlee’s plan to continue his comedy film series, Bujang Lapok , which he had previously produced while working at Malay Film Productions , Singapore. However, due to the difficulty of bringing his comedy trio to Kuala Lumpur, he discussed with his friend, AR Tompel , to instead produce a different film but with a similar concept. Knowing his talent, P. Ramlee brought AR Tompel to be the main actor, before also bringing Ibrahim Din to complete his comedy group.

In an interview with Film Magazine , P. Ramlee admitted that he produced Do Re Mi “forced”, but still tried to provide the best possible quality of filmmaking, and explained that the film’s acting was mostly spontaneous.

Nasib Do Re Mi is a Malay black-and-white comedy film produced by Studio Film Merdeka in Malaysia , directed by P. Ramlee , and released on 20 July 1966. As a sequel to the film Do Re Mi , it features the main cast, P. Ramlee , AR Tompel , Ibrahim Din.

Synopsis

This film tells the story of three friends named Do, Re and Mi with a group of thugs. After the three friends escape from being chased by a group of villagers who are angry because they were cheated by the three of them because of the sale of hot ‘oil’ medicine that is selling well. After escaping too far into the forest until late at night, they find a dilapidated house inhabited by an old man who is also a former street musician.

After that, the plot of the story develops after the three friends are injured in an attempt to save a couple, Lokman and Nora, in the park from being beaten by a group of thugs led by Komeng, who is also the mastermind behind the recent gold shop robbery. After escaping from the hospital, the three friends continue to lose their minds trying to find a way to survive until Do finds the brains to get money by deceiving Komeng and his cronies.

The highlight of this film is how three friends with Lokman decide to bring Komeng and the group to justice with Nora as a female spy. After Lokman, Do, Re and Mi successfully defeat the gang involved, they are rewarded with RM1000 by the police for their cooperation. However, Do decides to give their share to the couple as a wedding gift that will take place. Re who is reluctant at first agrees besides thinking that they have a lot of money from defrauding Komeng and his group.

The film ends with Nora and Lokman getting married in the presence of three friends. After the wedding, the three friends happily ride new bicycles (possibly bought with Komeng’s money that he was cheated out of) to an unknown place to start a new adventure.

Laxmana Do Re Mi (standard spelling: Laksamana Do Re Mi ) is a black and white Malay fantasy comedy filmproduced by Studio Film Merdeka in Malaysia in 1972 and first released on 12 May 1973, directed by P. Ramlee . The film is notable for being P. Ramlee’s last film released before his death shortly after on 28 May, as well as AR Tompel’s last film before he also died.

Synopsis

This film tells a fantasy story about three unemployed men who want to find work to make ends meet. After being kicked out of their house (which was illegally built on a tree), they wander and rescue the Princess of the Goblin, Princess Buloh Betong. The princess gives them three gifts for saving her. Do gets a flying mat that will take them anywhere they want. Re gets magical binoculars that can see any place, any event that happens at any time around the world. Mi gets a bangsi (or harmonica) of wisdom that will get the desired thing after intending and blowing on it.

The three of them headed to the country of Pasir Berdengung to find work as Admirals. There, they participated in a competition to become Admirals. The three of them managed to defeat the country’s admiral after taking a strong drug (ma’jun) and were appointed as the National Admirals. They volunteered to serve when asked to provide assistance to the country of Pasir Dua Butir which had been attacked by Minister Fasola. Minister Fasola was the former defense minister of the country of Pasir Dua Butir (rebelled against the country because his proposal to Princess Puncak Mahligai was rejected by His Majesty Sultan Pasir Dua Butir). Their journey continued to find the princess of the country and defeat Minister Fasola with the tools they had. At first, they had a hard time defeating Fasola because she was invulnerable, but with the help of Tuan Puteri Buloh Betong, Fasola was killed by Do using a pointed bamboo stick that was stabbed in the sole of her foot. The three of them guarded Tuan Puteri Puncak Mahligai overnight before sending her back to the country of Pasir Dua Butir the next day.

The next day they returned to the Two Grain Sand Country. There Admirals Do, Re, Mi demanded their promise from the King of that country. Because the state of the country was not yet stable, the King of Two Grain Sand ordered his son to return with the three admirals to the Rumbling Sand Country to perform the wedding ceremony. At the same time, the King also told his son, like pulling hair in flour; the hair should not break, the flour should not scatter.

So, Princess Puncak Mahligai set off with the three admirals to return to the Land of Rumbling Sand. When they arrived there, the story was different. Sultan Damsyik Jani (King of Rumbling Sand) was captivated by the beauty of Princess Puncak Mahligai. Then he took her as his queen.

Like ‘Wind Enters, Smoke Exits’, that’s what the three admirals felt. And as a just king, Sultan Damsyik Jani replaced the Princess with 3 court ladies who were ‘supposedly’ said to be quite beautiful, quite ripe, quite ripe and only waiting for their ‘day of death’. After seeing the court ladies, the three of them were so surprised that they fled the palace. Admiral Do, Re, Mi thought the court ladies were as beautiful as ‘ripe mengkudu’ fruit (sour in taste). The three admirals were finally freed from the curse from Mi’s magical bangsi (harmonica) which made the three court ladies itch all over their bodies so they left the country by riding the Flying Pandan Mat with the command, “O Flying Pandan Mat, take us flying everywhere. Zamzam Alakazam”.
